1. Model Meaning: In Chinese language, “Z” is the first alphabet of “ZHONG”, which stands for “Middle” in English. Accordingly, the models of LHAZ refers to “Operator stands at middle, or center zone of LHA models Gantry Moving I H Beam Welding Machine”:

1) Because each piece of H Beam has four pieces of seams waiting to be welded, the machine needs to perform four times of SAW Submerged arc welding operation on H Beam;
2) And because this structure of LHAZ model machine has two welding stations in one set, each time it can performs welding on two pieces of H Beam at the same time:
3) The 2 pieces of H Beam in 45° orientation, being laid on the 2 arrays of support rack, with the 2 groups of SAW welding mechanism, above the H Beams: (Fig.5)
Overall Way of Work: To fulfil the SAW welding operation on the four seams of H Beam, the gantry frame of machine needs to move back and forth four times in a row along its rail; And every time upon completion of one welding seam, the 2 pieces of H Beams need to be flipped 45°, for welding on the next seam. The general steps are as follows:
1) Weld the first piece of seam. Along this stroke the gantry moving speed is also the adjustable welding speed 240~ 2400mm/min.;
2) At the completion of the first piece of seam welding, machine gantry moves backward to its original starting point in quick idle speed 3200mm/min.;
3) The H Beam is turned 90° by means of overhead traveling crane or other flipping equipment, to 45° fillet welding position of the another welding seam, on its support rack;
4) The I H Beam Gantry Welding Machine performs the second piece of seam welding same as the first piece of welding seam mentioned as above;
5) At the completion of the second piece of seam welding, machine gantry moves back to its starting point again in high idle speed;
6) The H Beam is flipped to welding position of it’s the third welding seam as the step of No.2;
7) The same SAW process is implemented for the fourth welding seam of on H Beam;
1) With help of traveling crane, hoist H Beam onto its supporting rack, or change welding position of H Beam on the rack--- To the ideal position of 45° fillet welding;
2) Adjust on mechanical seam tracing unit on welding torch unit;
3) Start on welding power supply, and modulate on welding process parameters on control console: Welding current and voltage;
4) Set up proper SAW welding speed with turning knob on machine operating panel, based H Beam plate thickness.
1. Welding Mode:
1) Submerged arc welding usually utilizes large current of 1000A, 1250A or 1500A. (As comparison, in CO2 tack welding, it is 350~ 500A), at 45° fillet position of H Beam;
2) Automatic welding;
3) Majority condition is with Single Arc submerged arc welding, of over 90%; Twin Arc under minority use;
1) Requirement: With automatic SAW welding on I H Beam, its operator does not need to command superb welding skill and rich expertise as in the case of manual welding. However, to eligibly monitor H Beam SAW welding operation, he or she should grasp welding knowledge and gain welding experience of at least medium level;
2) To be specially, operator capability should be able to:
a) Manage on SAW welding process with SAW power supply;
b) Judge on SAW quality on finished;
c) If ever welding defects happen, how to make ICA repair (Imminent Corrective Action) on the machine, to prevent more defects happen;
3) For this reason, if a novice comes to the position of operating on the machine, he or she needs to take part in the corresponding training and pass the skill qualification test, before working on his or her own;
1) With numerous outsourcing units equipped in the machine,
a) Large welding current SAW power supply;
b) SAW Flux recovery unit;
c) SAW Wire feeder;
d) SAW Arc tracing unit;
Of two sets each;
2) The linkage among these outsourcing units, with LHAZ main machine itself, to make it into an integral system, is important for both producer and users;
a) On one hand, each unit has its own control console for manipulation;
b) On the other hand, electric control system of LHAZ machine integrates control of these units into its control circuit and feedback loop;
c) In terms of operation, operating panel of LHAZ machine has corresponding button or switch, to conveniently manipulate on each of the individual unit;
d) Manuals of all these outsourcing units will be supplied to customer together with other technical documents, at the time of machine delivery and acceptance.
