T Beam is a kind of important raw material in Steel Structure and Shipbuilding Industry. Unlike H Beam, which has 2 types of hot rolled type and welding type; There is only one type of welding T Beam, which is produced from T Beam Production Line, or T Beam Fabrication Machine:

Two Major Applications of T Beam Production Line and T Beam Fabrication Machine:

Customers of T Beam Production Line come from two industries of Steel Structure and Shipbuilding, which has certain different requirement on specifications of produced T Beam, and hence production process technology:

 

1. T Beam and T Beam Production Line/ T Beam Fabrication Machine for Shipbuilding:

1) Welding Mode in T Beam Welding Machine:

In Shipbuilding, the welding seam should have higher impact value, which is accomplished with CO2 gas shielded welding;

2) Edge Rounding in T Beam Production Line:

a) Besides, after plate cut from CNC Strip Plate Cutting Machine, and before assembling and tack welding in T Beam Assembly Machine, the end plate (Flange) and stiffener (Web) should have its edge rounded and trimmed, in Edge Rounding Machine;
b) This is because that, T Beam used in Shipbuilding usually work in humid environment, which should be strengthened for its painting adhesive capability;

3) Specifications of T Beam Produced from T Beam Production Line:

Size of T Beam used in Shipbuilding is somewhat smaller than those for Steel Structure: The stiffener height (Web) is usually in the range of 300mm to 1000mm, thickness 8mm to 20mm; End plate (Flange) is in the range of 100mm to 500mm, thickness 10mm to 40mm;

4) The Use of T Beam Production Line:

In Shipbuilding Facilities, T Beam Production Line and T Beam Fabrication Machine are applied solely for making T Beam.
 

2. T Beam and T Beam Production Line/ T Beam Fabrication Machine for Steel Structure:

1) Welding Mode in T Beam Welding Machine:

In Steel Structure Plant, the finished welding style implemented in T Beam Welding Machine is submerged arc welding, same as H Beam making. Sometimes, customer cut a piece of finished H Beam in half, to make it turned into 2 pieces of T Beam;
2) There is no need of edge rounding in process route of T Beam making;

3) T Beam Specifications from T Beam Production Line:

Size of T Beam used for Steel Structure is bigger than those for Shipbuilding: The web height (stiffener) is usually in the range of 200mm to 1500mm, thickness 6mm to 32mm; Flange (End plate) is in the range of 200mm to 800mm, thickness 8mm to 40mm;

4) The Use of T Beam Production Line:

There is seldom sole purpose T Beam making T Beam Production Line in Steel Structure plant. Usually it is in the form of H Beam Production Line and H Beam Fabrication Machine, which have delivery of both T Beam and H Beam;

Process Technology for Making Welding T Beam in T Beam Production Line

No matter by means of T Beam Production Line or T Beam Fabrication Machine, the welding T Beam production can be divided into 4 general steps of:

1. Strip Plate Cutting for Making Raw Materials of T Beam Assembly Machine:

The 1st Photo: Carbon steel plate is cut into long and strip boards in CNC Strip Plate Cutting Machine, serving as end plate (Flange) and stiffener (Web) of T Beam making, by means of flame strip cutting.

 

2. Edge Rounding Machine for Raw Materials of T Beam Assembly Machine:

1) The 2nd Photo: This step is for trimming, deburring, and edge rounding the strip boards by means of Edge Rounding Machine, into 2.0mm to 2.5mm radius of smooth round edge;
2) This step is for raising painting adhesion capability of end plate (Flange) and stiffener (Web) of T Beam. It is a must operation for T Beam produced in Shipbuilding plant;
3) The edge rounded workpieces will be sent to T Beam Assembly Machine.

 

 

3. T Beam Assembling and CO2 Tack Welding in T Beam Assembly Machine:

The 3rd Photo: In this step, the end plate (Flange) and stiffener (Web) are assembled and tack welded into the structure of T Beam. The welding mode implemented in T Beam Assembly Machine is intermittent CO2 GMAW;

 

4. Finished T Beam Welding in T Beam Welding Machine:

1) The 4th Photo: For T Beam Production Line in Shipbuilding Industry, the finished welding is in the mode of continuous CO2 Gas Shielded Welding. The corresponding T Beam Welding Machine is equipped with 5 to 6 pieces of welding carriages and torches simultaneously, delivering 5 to 6 pieces of finished T Beam at the same time;
2) For T Beam Production Line in Steel Structure Industry, the finished welding is in the mode of large current continuous SAW (Submerged arc welding), same as H Beam Welding Machine. The T Beam Fabrication Machine also adopts with SAW.

1. Working Brief on T Beam Welding Machine:

Application and Related Equipment of T Beam Production Line

1. As mentioned at the beginning of this page, T Beam Production Line and T Beam Fabrication Machine are used in Shipbuilding Industry, and Steel Structure Industry. The two industries have different requirement on finished welding seam in term of impact value. So, corresponding finished welding modes are also different;
2. Besides, in view of requirement on painting adhesive ability, Edge Rounding Machine is a requisite equipment for Shipbuilding T Beam Production Line, but not for Steel Structure Facilities;
3. For Steel Structure Industry, usually T Beam Production Line is combined with H Beam Production Line;
4. Equipped with CO2 GMAW or SAW, the T Beam Fabrication Machine has different focus on either Shipbuilding, or Steel Structure. For latter condition, it has same configuration and working process as H Beam Fabrication Machine;
