1. Background of 7 Axis CNC Pipe Cut Machine:

1) Business: From Summer of year 2025, Wuxi JACK designed and produced a set of CNC-CP7-3000/12 larger model CNC Pipe Intersection Cutting Machine, for a United States customer based in Texas, a petrochemical facility;
2) Production: This machine was produced by Wuxi JACK at our workshop from June to early September 2025, the hottest season of year;
3) Delivery: The machine was tested and accepted by customer representative at Wuxi JACK workshop, in September 2025. Then shipped to customer in early October 2025;
4) Installation and Start-Up: This 7 axis Large CNC Pipe Cutting Machine was transported to customer facility in November 2025. Wuxi JACK dispatched engineer and technician to customer facility for installation and commissioning;
5) Put into Use: The machine was kicked off official running after new year holiday 2026, and has stable high standard operation ever since over the past 3 months, to today April 2026;
 

2. Some Technical Features with 7 Axis Large CNC Pipe Intersection Cutting Machine:

1) Applicable Pipe: This Large CNC Pipe Cutting Machine is capable of cutting pipe with the max. dimension of: Diameter Φ3050mm, wall thickness 100mm, length 12m, weight 50 ton;
2) CNC Control: 7 axis, of which 5 axis interconnected (X, Y, Z, A, B), and 2 axis independent (V, W) specifically for cutting on large pipes;
3) One Time Beveling: ±45° to ±50°, depending on diameter of pipe;
4) Precision: Positioning accuracy and repetitive positioning accuracy can be maintained to ±0.35mm;
5) Hole Cutting: For pipe wall thickness 100mm, the minimum diameter of hole that can be cut is Φ100mm; For cutting large diameter pipe, additional lead-in line and small hole for edge start need to be cut ahead of time. In other words, the relationship between the minimum diameter of hole available for cutting and wall thickness, is 1:1;

A. 3 Control Axis for Small Diameter CNC Pipe Cut Machine:

3. Applicable Pipe Specifications: 3 Axis is suitable for cutting on pipes with small diameter and thin wall: Diameter ranges from Φ80mm to Φ660mm, and thickness from 3mm to 10mm;
4. Typical model: CNC-CP3- 600 or 660/L. Here “L” refers to the max. length of pipe. For example: 6000mm/ 9000mm/ 12000 mm, etc.;

 

B. 5 Control Axis for Small to Medium CNC Pipe Intersection Cutting Machine:

1. Necessary on Getting Oblique Rim on Larger Pipes: When diameters of pipes grow to medium level, such as Φ1400mm, and pipe wall thickness grows thicker, such as 30mm- 50mm, straight rim can not fulfil eligible intersection joint effect on pipes. By this time, it is necessary to cut out oblique edge groove on pipe rims, in slant angle of ±45° - ±50°;

On the basis of X, Y, Z axis,
1) The 4th A axis for controlling cutting torch 0°- 120° swing along pipe radial direction: Leftward and rightward when facing cross section of pipe;

3. Advanced calculation and database should be introduced to software operating system, thus completing on ±45° - ±50° beveling along rims:

4. The typical model of 5 axis machine is CNC-CP5-1400/L, for cutting on pipe with the max diameter of Φ1400mm.
 

C. 6, 7 Axis for Large CNC Pipe Cutting Machine:

1) The 6th V axis for moving cutting torch along pipe radial direction;

Should be introduced to the large machine. By this time, the original Y axis on pipe revolve does not grow effective, because the pipe itself is too large and heavy for revolve:

Depending on diameter of pipe, there are 2 major types of fixtures applied in the machine:
 

1. 3 Claw Chuck for Small Models CNC Pipe Cut Machine:

Clamping on small pipe with 3 jaw chucks, and support on longitudinal pipes with X brackets: (Fig.1)

1) Small Diameter Pipe: When diameters of pipe are less than Φ660mm, due to its relatively large motion inertia during rotation, 3 claw chuck need to be adopted in the machine, to clamp one end of pipe firmly;
2) Pipe Length: The entire piece of pipe will be laid onto 3 to 4 sets of X style moving adjustable brackets, which forms mechanical base bed of the machine;

2) Advantage of friction rollers: It is easy to handle large and heavy pipe onto and away from the operating zone of machine, without additional operation of clamping, fixing and loosening pipes;
