1. Function:
As part of CNC Flame Cutting Machine, strip and triple cutting also utilizes Oxygen fuel as its cutting media, but focuses on simple and extensive used functions:
1) Strip Flame Cutting Machine: Cut out several pieces of long and narrow strip plates in batch, with width of each piece can be differed: (Fig.1)
2) Triple Flame Cutting Machine: Cut out slant edge of different type and angle: (Fig.2)
2. Scope: Here, the movement of flame cutting torches do not controlled with CNC, and so accordingly are not capable of profile cutting;
1) Cutting Rail Span:
Considering carbon steel plates for cutting, the most often models are for 4,000mm and 5,000mm rail span. The corresponding models:
a) Triple Cutting: CGT4000 and CGT5000;
b) Strip Cutting: CGS4000 and CGS5000;
2) Cutting Torch Design:
Triple cutting torch and strip cutting torch are not only different from each other, but also from CNC control cutting torch, to deliver its task:
a) Triple cutting torch is composed of 3 pieces of strip cutting torch, with left and right 2 pieces can be adjusted on its angle: (Fig.3)
b) Strip cutting torches are usually installed several pieces together, at rear side of machine gantry: (Fig.4)
c) CNC cutting torch is usually installed with capacitance type height controller, to sustain on stability and precision of cutting performance: (Fig.5)
3) Controller: Both strip and Triple Flame Cutting Machine are not necessary to be adopted CNC controller as its central control unit. Instead, A.C. inverter is used to control on cutting velocity, and relays to control on cutting motions;
4) Machine Price: Accordingly, when controlled with conventional relays and inverters, the motors are not necessarily servo motor, just Y series motors can fulfil the task.
1) This machine cuts out beveling on edge of carbon steel plate, it has similar usage as Edge Milling Machine:
a) V type bevel cut from triple flame cutting: (Fig.6)
b) Typical types of bevels, that can be cut from triple flame cutting: (Fig.7)
2) The difference between triple flame cutting and Edge Milling Machine lies in working principle:
a) The Edge Milling Machine mills out chamfering with high speed milling head, which is mechanical type;
b) While Triple Flame Cutting Machine cuts out beveling in the speed of flame plate cutting;
c) Accordingly, triple cutting has obviously lower machine price/ Slower cutting speed/ Rougher cutting kerf, which should be trimmed after cutting;
1) Structure: One piece of triple cutting torch has three pieces of single cutting head. Shut off the two pieces of lateral heads, only leaving the middle one cutting head on, the triple cutting torch is turned into single or strip cutting torch;
2) In this sense, triple flame cutting covers function of strip cutting, with only less quantity of cutting torch and hence productivity;
Flame trip cutting is a kind of very useful function. It enriches capability of machine, with low cost operation. In practical use,
1) Oxygen fuel triple cutting not only appeared as special purpose machine on flame triple cutting, with 2 or 3 pieces of cutting torches;
2) But also as part of CNC Flame Cutting Machine, integrated with CNC single cutting torch and strip cutting torch, to give the machine more choice of function and operation;
3) Or, part of Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine, for cutting out bevels on edge of steel plate:
a) Specially for flame triple cutting, with 3 pieces of triple cutting torches: (Fig.8)
b) CNC-CG5000 model CNC Oxygen Fuel Cutting Machine, with 1 piece of triple cutting torch, and 2 pieces of CNC single cutting torches: (Fig.9)
c) As part of Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine: (Fig.10)
1) Structure: The machine on triple flame cutting derives from conventional CNC Oxygen Fuel Machine. It has the basic structure of gantry moving, along two parallel cutting rails;
2) Drive Control:
a) Sole purpose machine on triple flame cutting does not have requirement on contour control. So, CNC and servo motors are not a must for its gantry movement drive;
b) On the other hand, for all kinds of Flame Cutting Machine, be it inverter control or CNC control, rail span above 4,000mm means double drive should be introduced for the purpose of stable running, which can only be realized with servo drive and accordingly CNC control, to guarantee machine performance and its cutting quality;
1) A typical set of triple cutting torch and its finished workpiece: (Fig.11)
a) Composition: The triple cutting torch can be viewed as, three sets of single cutting torch being assembled in symmetry: One in the middle, and the other two at left and right side;
b) Tilt angle of the two lateral cutting torches can be adjusted by hand. There is indicating ruler showing on tilting angle of the two lateral torches, so, you can modulate its orientation based on your needs;
2) Single Cutting: Turn off the two lateral cutting heads, the middle one head can be used for strip cutting;
3) Trim on Cutting Kerf:
Compared with the counterpart equipment of Edge Milling Machine, finished chamfering from plate triple cutting does not have as gloss surface: There will be dregs and residues left on the bevels. So, it needs the subsequent step of welding slag trimming with steel brush.
1) Function: As the “simplest” and “earliest” product of CNC Strip Plate Cutting Machine, strip cutting is for cutting slit plate, and or cutting off carbon steel in longitudinal and or transverse direction with Oxygen and cutting gas (Acetylene or Propane):
Finished workpiece is carbon steel slits and metal plates, in strip shape of various dimensions: (Fig.12)
2) Related Machine: The machine on strip cutting has similar function as Shearing Machine, but in different mechanical structure and working principle;
1) Background: The machine on flame strip cutting has the longest history, before advent of CNC control technology on sheet metal cutting;
2) In H Beam Production Line and or BOX Beam Production Line, strip cutting is more applicable than CNC cutting, because it only needs straight cutting without contour cutting (And CNC) under such situation;
3) With mature of CNC technology, strip cutting has two types of the most often adopted application:
a) Either combined with CNC, servo drive system and CNC cutting torch, to be composed into CNC Strip Cutting Machine;
b) Or still be used as a sole purpose Oxyacetylene Oxygen Fuel Strip Flame Cutting Machine;
c) Sometimes, the machine is also equipped with one or more sets of triple cutting torch, to gain more options of usage;
1) Configuration: Standard models usually have multiple sets of, for example nine sets of strip cutting torch, in the rail span of 4,000mm, within total valid cutting width of 3,200mm:

2) Strip Plate Width: Of which the distance among each of the strip torches can be adjusted by hand, based on required cutting width of the finished product;
3) Quantity of strip cutting torches in one set of machine can be more or less than nine sets based on customer demand;
4) Drive Mode: Same as triple cutting and CNC control, the Plate Strip Flame Cutting Machine with rail span bigger than 4,000mm should have double drive, which can only be put into reality with CNC and its servo drive;
5) Electric Control: This is also simple: Only contactor and relay for controlling on machine operation, and A.C. inverter on cutting velocity.
