1) High Moisture Surroundings for Machinery Operation:
When Machineries, Constructions, or Projects are planned or expected to be applied and constructed in rigorous environment, such as outdoors, seaside, in the sea, river and lake, where erosion of wind and rain, steam and vapor are inevitable and frequent, requirement on coating and painting adhesion capability on these Machineries Constructions, and Projects should be raised accordingly, the painting performance should be sturdy and durable;
a) One of the solutions that is must for production and construction on these Machineries and Projects, is to trim on edges of workpieces into round angles of R2.0mm to R3.0mm, typically R2.5mm, thus greatly raising painting and coating adhesion capability of steel plate and I H Beam flange edges;

Topics: Here we explain operation way of Wuxi JACK RH800 and RH1000 models H Beam flange/ End Plate Trimming Machine, from three perspectives of:

1) In a nut shell, this can be described as “4 points being subjected to force”, as shown in the above sketches and photo: In one piece of workpiece (Steel plate and H Beam), there are up and down, left and right, 4 edges in total;
2) Central Zone: Correspondingly, there are 4 pieces of edge rounding rollers, in the operation zone of Edge Rounding Machine. These 4 pieces of edge rounding rollers can have its position adjusted in both horizontal and vertical way, accommodating on different width and thickness of workpiece;
a) Such position modulation on edge rounding rollers is driven with hydraulic oil cylinders, considering the heavy force involved during edge round operation;
b) Deployment: This is the reason that, why we see so many pieces of oil cylinders installed at central work zone of machine, installed in both horizontal and vertical orientation. In general, there are totally 13 pieces of oil cylinders in one set of Wuxi JACK Edge Rounding Machine, serving different functions:

4) Machine with Similar Principle: This may remind you of motor drive and hydraulic drive H Beam Straightening Machine, which has similar straightening theory as edge rounding, but aims on different aspect of workpiece (Steel plate and H Beam) and process technology (Edge rounding and straightening);
1) What is Different: As shown in the above figure 8 and 9, as well as below, orientation of upper pairs of edge rounding rollers is slightly different for H Beam flange, compared with condition of edge rounding on steel plate, which lead to variation of machine mechanical structure accordingly. Shown as below:
a) Slant positioned top paired edge rounding rollers on H Beam flange: (Fig.12)
b) Upright positioner pair of edge rounding rollers on steel plate: (Fig.13)
2) This is because for H Beam flanges, there are 2 flanges in one H Beam. The 2 flanges are horizontal orientated, with width from 200mm up to 800mm. When having edge rounding operation on the bottom piece of flange, there should have sufficient space in the edge rounding cavity, to accommodate on the upper flange;
3) For this purpose, for I H Beam Flange Edge Rounding Machine, the upper pair of edge rounding rollers should have slant angle, in the angular position of 10° to 15°, depending on the minimum size of H Beam;
4) For example, in February year 2026, a Singapore customer negotiated with Wuxi JACK on RH800 model I H Beam Flange Edge Rounding Machine. The customer expected that RH800 model machine is able to fulfil on edge rounding on H Beam flange with the minimum dimension of: Flange width 100mm, and thickness 6mm. Comparatively, in Wuxi JACK conventional design RH800 model machine, the available minimum dimension of H Beam is flange width 100mm and thickness 8mm;
5) To meet customer special requirement on processing such small H Beam, the H Beam Flange Edge Rounding Machine need to be special designed: Slant angle of the top pair of edge rounding rollers should be enlarged from 10° to 15°, and rollers itself should also be slightly smaller:

6) While in the case of edge rounding on steel plate, its machine structure is simpler than machine on H Beam: There is no need to leave space for upper section of workpiece during work. For this reason, the top pair of edge rounding rollers is completely upright, and structure of edge rounding cavity is simpler also.
Is combined effect of:
a) In phase revolve of the 4 pieces of edge rounding rollers;
b) Revolve of rollers on input and output conveyors roller tables;
For this reason, during design and validation on machine, Wuxi JACK engineers calculated and validated carefully, confirming on process parameters of:
a) Linear velocity of edge rounding rollers revolve;
b) Linear velocity of conveyors tables rollers, and hence workpiece conveying speed;
Making sure these 2 work motions mate with each other perfectly and smoothly;
a) There are motor reducers installed at both inlet and outlet of mechanical main body, which drive the 2 pieces of bottom positioned edge rounding rollers; In this revolve process, the 2 pieces of top positioned edge rounding rollers are led into rotation also from revolve of workpieces (Steel plate and H Beam):
b) Motor reducers for driving on conveyors roller tables, at both lateral sides of RH1000 model machine main frame: (Fig.15)
a) Same as large models RH3000/ RH2000/ RH1500 machines, there are input and output conveyor of 10m each equipped with the RH1000/ RH800 smaller models, corresponding with the max. workpiece length of 12m. If workpiece is longer, the roller tables will be longer also:
b) Conveyor roller table being installed at Chinese customer facility, of Wuxi JACK RH3000 model large steel plate Edge Rounding Machine: (Fig.16)
a) At the forwarding terminal of input conveyor roller table, (Which means, the terminal of the input conveyor approximating to mechanical machine body), there is alignment unit for keeping correct position of workpiece (Steel plate and H Beam) for edge rounding operation in the machine;
b) With this alignment unit, terminals of workpieces for edge rounding will be leaned against edge rounding rollers, to make sure proper job on operation.
1) Necessity: Considering property and task of machine, this equipment should be kept clean as much as possible, especially its edge rounding operating zone: If there is foreign particles and dirt infiltrated in the clearance, the edge rounding operation will be seriously negatively affected, in terms of both quality and efficiency;
2) Execution Unit: Such cleaning task is accomplished by means of compressed air pneumatic system. As shown in below photos, in operating clearance, there is blue color air tube right above workpiece (Steel plate and H Beam), which, under the drive of compressed air cylinder, blows out air onto just finished edge rounded workpiece, thus cleaning trimmed round edges accordingly. This cleaning unit is standard configuration in all the models of Wuxi JACK Edge Rounding Machine, from small models RH800- RH1000, to large models of RH1500 to RH3000:

1) Structure Variation:
For small models RH800 and RH1000, with removal of downward pressing rollers and its oil cylinders as in the case of RH1500 to RH3000 large models machines, the original box structure frame and 4 pieces of upright columns are not necessary any more. Instead, it is change to open structure base bed:
1) For Narrow Steel Plate: Here, the stipulation on “Narrow” refers to width of steel plate is less than 1000mm, especially in the scope of 100mm to 400mm. One of the main application sites of RH1000 model Small Plate Edge Rounding Machine is T Beam Production Line, as part of Shipbuilding facilities;
a) As can be imagined, RH800 model is used at EOL (End of line) station of H Beam Production Line, before painting and coating station. Of course, not all H Beams need to have its flanges edge rounded, only those steel structure constructions in humid environment need to be edge trimmed ahead of time before building. On the other hand, if H Beams will be constructed in dry land, such as in Middle East or desert, edge rounding on flanges is not a must, unless with special requirement from customers;
b) Another important machine on H Beam production is 3 in 1 H Beam Assembly Welding Straightening Machine, which produces small to medium SAW welded H Beam in high efficiency. T H Beam flanges will also be edge rounded sometimes;
3) For Large Steel Plate: RH1500 to RH3000 large models Edge Rounding Machine is usually applied at large machinery production offshore: Port Machinery, Bridge Building, etc.;
Depending on using site, some of the typical machines related with edge trimming include:
1) Steel plates being joint into larger piece by means of MP series Steel Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine, the workpieces delivered from RH800 and RH1000 models can also be used in production line for large Machineries and heavy duty projects;
2) XBJ series Edge Milling Machine making preparation for the next step of welding and fabrication, in the form of cutting out welding groove in high speed, which is usually deployed ahead of coating service Edge Rounding Machine. These 2 types machines are all very important for 1st operation process technology;
3) J series Stiffener Plate Element Straightening Machine, for flattening out the fabricated assemblies WIP (Work in process). The large base plate of stiffener plate unit (Also called Ribbed plate) is usually need to be trimmed before fabrication and straightening, in RH3000 model large steel plate Edge Rounding Machine;
4) DX series Steel Structure BOX H Beam End Face Milling Machine, for polishing on end face of the entire large cross section welded workpieces.
