By December 18th , in year 2025 Wuxi JACK has produced and delivered over 20 sets of H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine, with different designs/ specifications/ configurations. Below is epitome of these machines:
 

1, LHA55Z Center Operating BOX I H Beam SAW Welding Machine at Chinese Steel Structure:

As fully automatic machinery on SAW (Submerged arc welding), I H Beam SAW Welding Machine integrates below function cells into one single set of equipment:
1) Motor drive moving gantry frame, moves along parallel rails in adjustable welding velocity;
2) Drive, guide, transmission unit for gantry movement, including A.C. motors and reducers, heavy duty high precision linear guiderails;
3) Two sets of SAW welding machines, including control console and welding wire feeding unit;
4) Two sets of SAW welding flux recovery and reuse machines, including sending and suction hoses, flux hopper;
5) Two sets of welding arc tracker unit, mechanical type, no need to have manual manipulation during SAW welding;

Advanced Technique in Wuxi JACK I H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine

1. Welding Torch Mounting Carriage in SAW I H Beam Welding Machine:

1) Importance: Welding torch and mounting carriage determines reliable and accurate welding positioning, and hence welding quality in producing BOX I H Beam;
2) Installation: Welding torch is installed on motor drive moving carriage, which moves along horizontal guiderail on the front upper horizontal beam of H Beam Welding Machine gantry frame;
3) Elevation Function: In addition to horizontal direction X axis, welding torch can also be lifted up and down along the carriage under motor drive, Y axis;
4) Degree of Freedom: In this way, for proper operation, welding torch can move in three dimension directions X/ Y/ Z axis in mechanical main frame.
 

2. High Precision Controlling Welding Head in Wuxi JACK I H Beam SAW Welding Machine:

Indicated in above photos,
1) Drive and Transmission: In Wuxi JACK H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine, horizontal movement of mounting carriage and welding torch is driven with manual handle reducer, transmitted with precise gear and rack. This is because SAW welding job is performed along longitudinal direction of workpiece (H Beam or BOX Beam), not along horizontal way;
2) Up and down adjusting welding torch is driven with motor reducer, transmitted with precise gear and rack, accommodating on varying web heights of H Beam;
3) Guide: Horizontal and vertical movement of welding torch are guided with precise adjustable eccentric rollers, which are assembled at the front and rear sides of mounting carriage, along the high precision V section guiderails;
4) Performance: These fully guarantee on smooth/ steady/ accurate movement of welding head in Wuxi JACK BOX I H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine during its operation.

A. Basic Role and Importance of BOX I H Beam Welding Machine:

1. Function of BOX I H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine:

This is the primary equipment for producing T/ I/ H Beam:
All the remaining machines in I H Beam Production Line:
1) I H Beam Assembly Machine;
2) I H Beam Straightening Machine;
3) I H Beam End Face Milling Machine;
Can be viewed as supporting equipment for SAW welding step;
2. Function: I H Beam SAW Welding Machine carries out central process step for producing welding H Beam: The 45° Submerged arc fillet welding, which forms solid welding seam with toe size from 6mm to 12mm and bigger;
1) A piece of large H Beam completed welding in Wuxi JACK LHA5Z model I H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine, 45° fillet position: (Fig.1)
2) BOX Beam being performed with SAW welding in Wuxi JACK machine, in flat position: (Fig.2)
 

B. Other Types of Applicable Workpieces in Steel Structure BOX I H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine:

1. Extended Use: In addition to T/ I/ H Beam in steel structure industry, different sizes of gantry frame welding machines are also widely used in fabricating on other large steel workpieces;
2. Technical Feature: During work, lengthways welding operation along the entire length of workpieces is carried out, which is fulfilled with back and forth movement of mechanical gantry main frame. The complete set of welding system is fixed onto front mechanical frame;

Operation on Gantry Frame BOX I H Beam Welding Machine

1. Qualification on Operators of H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine:

1) Operator should understand manual books first, including manual book of:
a) H Beam Welding Machine itself;
b) SAW welding power supply;
c) SAW welding flux recycling machine,
being familiar with structure and way of adjustment, has ability to operate on SAW welding operation correctly;
2) Operator should perform trial run on the entire work group of I H Beam SAW Welding Machine, being familiar with pushbuttons and switches, confirming normal work of all function units;
3) Operator should command skill on SAW welding, especially proper welding process parameters including current/ voltage/ speed;
4) Accordingly, before official welding, operators should set up correct welding parameters, making good preparation;
 

2. Major Steps for Running on Gantry Frame I H Beam SAW Welding Machine:

1) Preparation: Put selection switch on the right panel to “Adjustment”, then press “Retreat” button, making gantry retreating to the rear position. Then put 2 pieces of assembled H Beam onto rack (rack should be made by customer), implementing on welding seam job upward, at 45° fillet position;
2) Welding Torch Rough Adjustment: Make gantry moving forward, until welding arm adjacent to H Beam. Then adjust welding arm moving up and down, left and right, making sure welding tip aiming at welding seam basically;
3) Welding Torch Precise Adjustment: Inching down welding arm until it contacts with H Beam, then welding arm descends down another 50mm. Adjust welding tip up and down, left and right, until it aims at center of welding seam at a certain distance away, then actuate on air cylinder, making control roller holding down. Now, it is available for official work of the H Beam Welding Machine;
4) SAW Welding Operation: Put selection switch on the right panel to “Weld”, then switch on flux hopper for depositing flux. Start on left and right welding machines, setting up welding parameters ahead of time. Switch on flux recovery unit, and adjust welding parameters precisely;
5) At the end of welding, press “Weld Stop” button, switching off flux hopper, raising welding head. For the both groups of welding unit in I H Beam SAW Welding Machine, left and right welding arms can be adjusted and operated at the same time.

Classification on BOX I H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine

1. Structure Feature: Compared with LHC and LHT models H Beam Welding Machine, which has open structure, LHA series gantry structure has enclosed mechanical frame, which gives confinement on workpiece size;
2. Correspondingly, there exist model variations on gantry frame I H Beam SAW Welding Machine, for accommodating on different sizes and designs of workpieces:
1) LHAZ series middle operating type;
2) LHAC series lateral operating type;
3) LHG / LHD special design models

1. LHAZ Center Control Gantry Frame I H Beam SAW Welding Machine:

1. Operation Feature of LHAZ Series I H Beam SAW Welding Machine:

1) Application: Applied in semi-automatic or manual H Beam Production Line; Or work as single set welding machinery;
2) Shown in the lefthand photo, operating pendant and SAW control consoles are installed at middle point of main frame horizontal beam, this is basic difference with respect to LHAC models lateral operating type;
3) Operator Position: So, during work, operator stands at middle isle between the 2 arrays of workpiece racks, beneath motor drive moving gantry frame of the machine.

 

2. Advantages and Disadvantages of LHAZ Middle Operating Gantry Frame H Beam Welding Machine:

1) Advantage: Reduce Number of Operator: 1 operator is sufficient for operating and monitoring on working process on the 2 pieces of H Beam simultaneously. Labor saving, reduces variable cost;
2) Disadvantages:
a) Operator labor intensity is more intensive than operators of LHAC models;
b) Wider Land Space Involved: For the same of H Beam web max. height, LHAZ takes 10% wider workshop area than LHAC models.

 

3. Operation on LHAZ Model I H Beam Gantry SAW Welding Machine:

1) Welding Efficiency: There are 2 sets of welding torch in one set of LHAZ. So, the machine can fulfil SAW welding on two pieces of H Beam simultaneously;
2) H Beam Flipping: With the help of traveling crane or other tool, every piece of H Beam needs to have 4 times 90° flipping, to complete 4 passes of welding seam. This poses certain challenge on operator safety/ working pace, and workpiece protection;
3) Welding Technique: Single Arc/ Twin Arc/ Taden Arc submerged arc welding.

2. LHAC Lateral Operation Gantry Frame H Beam Welding Machine

1. Operation Feature of LHAC H Beam Welding Machine:

1) Application: Used in semi-automatic or manual H Beam Production Line;
2) 2 sets of operating pendants are installed at both ends of mechanical main frame respectively;
3) Operator Position: During work, operators stand at both sides external of H Beams supporting rack, 1 people at 1 side respectively, beneath and inside the motorized moving mechanical frame;
4) 2 Arrays of H Beam Holding Racks: Correspondingly, H Beam orientation is also different from LHAZ middle operating.

 

2. Technical Features of LHAC Models Gantry SAW I H Beam Welding Machine:

1) Welding Efficiency: 2 groups of welding torch units in 1 set of machine, welding on 2 pieces of H Beam together;
2) Number of Operator: Two, 1 people takes care on 1 piece of H Beam welding operation respectively;
3) Technical Features of LHAC side managing I H Beam SAW Welding Machine are same as LHAZ center managing: Welding technique (Large current SAW)/ Productivity (2 pieces simultaneously)/ H Beam handling;
4) Electric Control: There is interlock in machine electric control system, so that 2 operators operation in pace can be 100% guaranteed; No wrong operation happened.
