1) Where Used: For this set of MP30 model Plate Butt Joint Welding Machine working at Russian customer site shown in the first photo, it works in a heavy duty crane production facility;
2) We can see that, there is a set of CNC-CG4000 model CNC Strip Plate Cutting Machine at right hand of this MP30 machine, for cutting off plates purpose.
1) Task of Machine: In manufacturing field, thick metal plates (With thickness 6mm and above) usually have size of 2 ~ 5m width by 15m length, which is standard specification of steel plate length from Steel Mill Works. These steel plates needs to be flat butt pieced together, to get larger and longer finished plates, especially in working field of Shipbuilding/ Bridge Construction/ Steel Structure/ Crane Production, etc. MP series Plate Flat Butt Welding Machine is designed for such application:
At output conveyor roller table, a piece of 30m length steel plate with 2,000mm width, flat butt welded and joint from 2 pieces of 15m length plate, in Wuxi JACK MP30 model machine: (Fig.1)

As you can check from it, that one set of MP series Plate Joint Welding Machine can be divided into sections of:
(1) Mechanical main frame;
(2) Input and output conveyors roller table, installed with long length plate alignment unit;
(3) Function unit (Triple flame cutting at front side incoming way, and SAW butt welding at outcoming rear side of main frame) ;
(4) Hydraulic system, for driving on array of plate clamping units;
(5) Electric control System:
a) This is a stationary gantry structured main frame. Its incoming side is installed with optional Oxygen fuel flame triple cutting unit (The front side view in the first photo); Its outcoming side is fit with the melt thru butt welding group:

b) Double Sides Different Machines:
- Observing from workpiece inlet side, main frame of the MP series plate Flat Butt Welder looks like a set of Plate Triple Cutting Machine:

- Observing from workpiece outlet side, the machine body is somewhat similar to a that of the H Beam Gantry Welding Machine, but with many differences in workpiece type/ quantity of welding torch/ gantry style (stationary versus moving type):

c) Checking from lateral side (In the second sketch) of Wuxi JACK MP models machine, melt thru butt welding side is more complicated than triple cutting side:
(1) There is V structure welding base composed of 2 pieces of trapezoidal brackets, with oil cylinders horizontally installed inside;
(2) The SAW (Submerged arc welding) torch and its supporting units are at the top of the V structure welding bench;
(3) The motor drive elevating type copper pads and its water cooling system are installed at bottom position of welding worktable. All these function units are assembled together with perfect fitting into an integral part, fulfilling melt thru butt welding in the MP series Plate Flat Butt Welding Machine (Melt thru: Single face welding with double face completion);
a) Standard length of the input and output conveyors: 6m ~ 15m length for input conveyor; 15m ~ 30mm for output conveyor, depending on customer denoted length of original and finished plate length;
b) Driving Segment: There is one driving segment for input conveyor roller table, and two driving segments for output conveyor roller table. The chains and sprockets are covered with striking visual bright yellow color housing, for the purpose of safe operation: No collision or entanglement with machine running units during operation;
c) Special Design: Based on specific length of raw material plates and finished joint plate denoted from customer on the machine, we can make special length in the this series of machinery;
Downward Pressing Blocks on Sheet Metal Plates:
a) Function: These black color blocks can be identified in the attached 3rd and 4th photos and below. In running of the machine, it serves the same function as hydraulic jacks in Edge Milling Machine: To secure the metal plates firmly during working:
2 arrays of black color pressing unit, for firmly holding on joint plates during welding: (Fig.7)
b) Plate Secure: In one set of MP series plate Flat Butt Welding Machine, there are 2 arrays of pressing blocks installed above the copper pads, for holding down the 2 plates against the copper pads during Melt thru welding in the machine (One array of blocks holding one piece of plate respectively);
c) This pressing unit is hydraulic driven. Hydraulic pump station is put alongside the mechanical gantry frame of the machine.
