1. Work Station: The finished CO2 welding on stiffeners (Vertical plate) is the 4th step in process technology of welding T Beam Production Line, following T Beam assembly and tack welding;
2. Workpiece: The assembled T Beams from Z10 T Beam Assembly Machine will be sent to this machine, being welded with technology of continuous CO2 GMAW welding. The completed welded T Beams after this station are finished workpieces, which can be used in Shipbuilding as basic parts:
4 pieces of T Beam simultaneously being welded from Wuxi JACK LBA10 machine: (Fig.1)
Task: As counterpart of H Beam Welding Machine in H Beam Production Line, here T Beam Welding Machine has common points differences, which implements on the same task of workpiece finished welding:
1) When used in shipbuilding, the T Beam welding adopts with GMAW gas shielded CO2 welding, instead of SAW (Submerged arc welding) in H Beam welding;
2) This is because for shipbuilding use T Beam, the critical demand is top grade toughness of welding seam. This can only be achieved with GMAW gas shielded CO2 welding, which produces welding seam with high IK value: Anti-resistance capability. The ships build from such T Beam boosts sufficient strength, avoiding deformation;
1) Compared with SAW, the GMAW CO2 welding process generates large volume of fume and arc light:
Strong light and heavy fume generated from Wuxi JACK LBA10 machine: (Fig.2)
2) Cleaning Equipment: So, workshop of such T Beam CO2 welding needs to be installed with welding fume extracting and cleaning system;
3) Besides, the machine itself should be equipped with such welding fume recycling unit, and curtains, which is shown in the attached picture and below:
Curtains and welding fume extraction units on Wuxi JACK LBA10 machine: (Fig.3)
1) As shown in attached photos and below, in one set of the machine on shipbuilding T Beam welding, there are 4 to 6 pieces of welding torch mechanisms, which perform CO2 welding on 4 to 6 pieces of T Beam at the same time:
2) The front view on Wuxi JACK LBA10 machine, there are 4 groups of welding torches in the machine: (Fig.4)
1. Machine Dimension: As can be seen from the attached photos, with as much as 5~ 6 welding torches being installed on its mechanical gantry frame body, this automatic machine on shipbuilding T Beam welding is a set of “giant” machine:
Installation site of Wuxi JACK LBA10 machine: (Fig.5)
2. The mechanical gantry frame body itself also serves as operating and maintenance platform of the machine, with working station fit onto its front side. During work, operator stands on this working station, to manage on and monitor welding process on T Beams;
3. All the 4 to 6 sets of CO2 welding power supplies are put on the machine overhead platform. So, the gantry frame takes majority of loading weight of this shipbuilding Multiple Piece T Beam Welding Machine, which should be strong, firm, and sturdy;
4. Electric control board of the machine is installed at lateral side of the gantry frame, with operating pendant installed at the front side of the gantry adjacent to working station. In this way, both plain and simple cable routing, as well as convenient operation are considered by machine designers;
Operation of this machine is similar to that of H Beam welding machine:
1) During work, the workpieces of T Beams are put onto its rack and kept standstill, while the gantry frame of the machine moves along its rail in adjustable welding speed, welding the T Beam workpieces simultaneously;
2) Personal Protection: Due to the potential harm caused from welding fume and arc light generated from CO2 welding, operator of this automatic machine on T Beam welding should put on proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including Welding helmet, ear plug and goggles, and abide by security regulation of the facility.
