A.      Characteristics of T Beam and T Beam 3 in 1 Production Line:

1.       What is T Beam and its T Beam Welding Machine?

1)       Cross section of T Beam looks like letter “T”, fabricated into shape from a piece of horizontal end plate and vertical stiffener;

2)       Its mechanical properties come between Angle Steel and H Beam;

3)       Welding Mode: T Beam Welding Machine carries out CO2 GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) or SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) on assembled T Beam;

2.       2 Applications of T Beam and T Beam Fabrication Machine / T Beam Production Line:

1)       Shipbuilding T Beam: With “T” looks like half-finished “H”, it is not proper to simply say: “T Beam is half-finished H Beam”; “T Beam Production Line is half of H Beam Production Line”;

2)       Technical Features: There exist several characteristics with process technology of Shipbuilding T Beam Production Line. This is arisen from special application requirement in Shipbuilding industry;

3)       Steel Structure T Beam: As in the field of Steel Structure construction, T Beams do not have same large volume as H Beams, and counterpart in Shipbuilding. Its process technology has many common points with welding H Beam production;

B.       Shipbuilding Use T Beam and T Beam Production Line:

1.       Vital Importance: This is the most important and largest consuming branch of T Beam. When people talk about “T Beam”, they usually refer to Shipbuilding use;

2.       Technical Requirement on Shipbuilding T Beam and T Beam Production Line:

1)       Sufficient Painting Adhesion: Ships run in river/ lake/ sea, where exist excessive damp and moisture-ridden. So, ship sub-assemblies painting should be durable and wear resistant. Correspondingly, Shipbuilding T Beam Production Line should have correspondingly working station;

2)       Sufficient Mechanical Strength: In Shipbuilding, T Beam serves as face stiffener of ship skeleton. Correspondingly, sufficient IK value (Impact strength) should be guaranteed in T Beam Welding Machine;

3)       Size: Shipbuilding T Beam have smaller size than Steel Structure use. Basically, T Beam height (End plate height) do not exceed 1000mm;

C.       Steel Structure Use T Beam and T Beam Welding Machine:

1.       Half Finished H Beam: Steel Structure T Beam can be viewed as WIP (Work in progress) of H Beam: One piece of flange and web are assembled and welded into T Beam; Added with the 2nd piece of flange, T Beam is made into H Beam;

2.       Larger Size: Steel Structure T Beam has max. web height of 1500/ 1800/ 2000 mm, same level as H Beam;

3.       SAW Welding: Steel Structure T Beams do not need as high IK value as in Shipbuilding. Usually adopted with SAW (Submerged arc welding) in T Beam Welding Machine and 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine;

4.       A piece of steel structure T Beam produced from Wuxi JACK 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine: (Fig.5)

D.      Process Technology and Technical Specialty of T Beam Production Line:

Here we briefly summarize the five major steps in process route of T Beam production:

1.       The 1st Step: 1st Operation Plate Cut in T Beam Production Line:

1)      Strip plates with width in the range of 150mm~800mm/ 1000mm/ 1500mm, length up to 12000mm/ 15000mm are cut out from CNC Flame Plate Cutting Machine;  

2)      These strip plates will be served as end plate (Flange) and stiffener (Web) of T Beam;

2.       The 2nd Step: End Plate Trimming in Shipbuilding T Beam Production Line:

1)      Purpose: This corresponds with the first requirement on Shipbuilding T Beam: Strong painting adhesive performance;  

2)      Task Finished: T Beam end plate will have its both sides edges being deburred/ trimmed and rounded into 2.0mm ~ 2.5mm radius. This step is accomplished in working station RH1000 Edge Rounding Machine;

3.      The 3rd Step: Assembling and Tack Welding in T Beam 3 in 1 Production Line:

1)      Function: Horizontal end plate (Flange) and vertical stiffener (Web) are assembled and tack welded into T Beam skeleton;  

2)      Tack Welding in T Beam Assembly Machine: 500A specification intermittent CO2 gas shielded welding;

4.       The 4th Step: Finished Welding with Two Types of T Beam Welding Machine:

As mentioned previously:

1)      In Steel Structure T Beam Welding Machine, finished welding: 1000A Single Arc submerged arc welding;  

2)     In Shipbuilding T Beam Welding Machine, finished welding: 500A continuous CO2 GMAW;


E.       Cost Effective Single Equipment 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine:

1.       Application: This machine can be used for producing both Steel Structure and Shipbuilding use T Beam;

2.       Characteristic and Strong Points of 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine:

1)      Same as H Beam Fabrication Machine, one set of 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine integrates 3 major functions: Assembly/ welding/ straightening in single equipment;

2)      So, it greatly saves cost for customers: Machine investment, daily running cost, and land area;

3.       Limitation of 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine:

1)      Compared with traditional T Beam Production Line, which can output 4~ 5 pieces of T Beam simultaneously;

2)       3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine only deliver 1 piece of T Beam anytime;

3)       So, it is applicable for working sites with small batch of T Beam production volume;

4.       Put into Use on 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine:

1)       Welding: Both SAW and CO2 GMAW can be equipped in 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine for either Steel Structure or Shipbuilding use;

2)       End Trimming: When producing Shipbuilding use T Beam, a set of RH-1000 Edge Rounding Machine should be deployed following the 3 in 1 T Beam Fabrication Machine.
